Challenges and pencil order

Challenges allow a lower ranked pencil to request a decision from a higher ranked pencil.

🎯 When a challenge can happen

  • A studio with a 2nd pencil can challenge a 1st pencil.
  • A studio with no pencil can challenge a lone 1st pencil.
  • Dummy 1st pencils can be challenged.
  • Confirmed and DND blocks are never challengeable.

🚀 Starting a challenge

  • Studio clicks a Challengeable block.
  • Selects Challenge.
  • Enters project name, dates and notes.
  • Sends the challenge to the freelancer.

After sending:

  • Challenger sees Challenged.
  • Others see Unavailable.

👁️ What each user sees

  • Challenger: purple Challenged (project-name).
  • 1st pencil owner: sees Unavailable until the challenge is resolved.
  • Freelancer: sees Challenged and can make a decision.
  • Unrelated studios: see the slot as Unavailable.

🧑‍⚖️ Freelancer decision

The freelancer can choose:

  • Confirm 1st pencil
  • 🟩 Confirm challenging studio
  • Decline both

If they do nothing before the deadline:

➡️ PencilCase automatically confirms the challenger after three business days.

🟩 After the decision

  • The selected booking becomes Confirmed.
  • All other pencils for that date are released.
  • Everyone else sees the time as Unavailable.
  • Freelancer and confirmed studio see full project details.
